FCRA Registration

FCRA Registration is compulsary for any NGO / Charitable Organisation to receive funds from foreign organisation whether it is in the nature of donation, grant or called with any other name. Any NGO/ Society/ Trust/ Charitable Organisation is required to compulsarily obtain permission from Foreigner Division of Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) before receiving any kind of funds from foreign sources.

Generally new charitable organisations are provided permission under FCRA Act on case to case basis for each donation received. This kind of permission is caled "Prior Permission". Whereas, generally organisation which have an established track record with FCRA Act are later provided Permanent Registration by the Ministry of Home Affairs wherein they are no longer required to take approval everytime they receive fund from foreign sources.

The penalties for non compliance with provisions of FCRA Act are very severe, therefore, every charitable organisation should be very careful in following the FCRA Act.
